Behind a normal working shift of train traffic personnel there is a whole world made up of information about stream of traffic, documents to be filled, manuals to be read and routines to be checked out.
So long, all these important information was in analog form or spread over different intranet programs; thus, the train conductor, the locomotive driver, on board personnel and traffic responsible personnel had either to deal with a lot of paper or to navigate through the different intranet programs in a puzzling way. Not to mention the fact that the papers had to be carried around all the time.
During 2013 NSB, the Norwegian national railway, has merged all these complex data into an app for tablets as well as all the different systems connected to each other in real time. As a final result, all the routines and traffic information have become more efficient and easier to control.
It was then important to organize all the different features in a functional way, under a common hierarchy and a visual consistence, with a library of over 100 icons available in the new system.
