Operasjon Dagsverk stands as the largest solidarity initiative organized by Norwegian students on a national scale.
Each year, students select a project aimed at aiding a specific youth community worldwide, focusing on issues such as human rights and poverty through support for education and development. This endeavor transforms into a nationwide campaign week involving all schools in Norway.
In 2017, the mission was to assist Nigerian youth communities grappling with one of the world's most significant oil disasters, which has profoundly impacted their natural environment, social infrastructure, and future prospects. Decades of oil exploitation in Nigeria have inflicted extensive damage on the environment, economy, and health of local communities.
In collaboration with Operasjon Dagsverk's national committee, we co-created a communication concept characterized by a singular, direct, and impactful message, complemented by a potent visual metaphor. Building from this foundation, we developed a straightforward yet distinctive visual identity to engage young people across various platforms, from online channels to street-level interactions.
The campaign effectively bridges seemingly disparate groups with its central message: "Vi er alle oljebarn" (We are all oil children). By emphasizing both the shared similarities and unique challenges faced by these young individuals, the campaign serves to educate, engage, and unite in a manner that is both simple and profound.
